An hour later Gage and Jasper are fiddling with an engine Jess pulled out of a new rebuild he brought home. Jasper has no desire to help him do anything right now, but sitting around listening to these guys reminisce about the old days is borderline torture. Gage seems to feel the same way.

“Could go over to the clubhouse,” Gage says. Jasper glances at him. “My bike, it’s acting up again. I checked for a kinked wire and—”

“Kink mighta damaged the wires.”

“Yeah! I thought so too! This shit’s getting annoying. Old-timers start to wear on ya after a while.” Jasper couldn’t agree more. Nodding, he stands and stretches.

“Lemme handle this. Watch.” Jasper walks over to Dax and leans in next to him. “Hey, me and Gage got a girl we're gonna go see.” Dax looks at him, his bleary eyes wide as saucers.

“One girl, ’tween the two of ya?” Dax isn’t easy to shock, which makes this even sweeter.

“Yeah, she needs something a little extra.” Jasper can hear Gage snickering behind him.

“Well, fuck me! I thought fer a minute there you was changing teams! Ain’t had a girl around in ages!” This gets a roar of laughter from the rest of the guys. Jasper flips him off and leaves the garage. Gage follows and catches up with him as they head down the drive.

“Dude, that was classic! Hey, I gotta go by my place and grab the parts. My bike is already at the clubhouse. I’ll just meet you there, okay?” Gage asks.

“Alright. Sounds good.” Leaving Tessa’s room and getting stuck in the garage with a bunch of drunk assholes put him in a shitty mood. Gage’s suggestion saved Jasper a headache and put him on track to a better mood.

He glances up at Tessa’s window as he backs down the drive. It’s dark so maybe she’s sleeping. Probably worrying about her brother. Maybe thinking of him.
